The President first. On Saturday, Oct. 10, asked whether the U.S. would join Saudi strikes on the Houthis after the Riyadh airport attack, President Trump said “We may. We’re going to look at it.” (Al Arabiya English, Oct. 10). As of Thursday, Oct. 15, no decision has been announced. On Oct. 8 he said the U.S. will not strike Iran before the Nov. 3 midterm elections (Al Jazeera, Oct. 9). On Oct. 10–11 he called the Riyadh attack “a terrible thing” while saying the Saudis are “good fighters” and added “you’re going to find out” (Al Arabiya English; CBS). On Oct. 13 he posted on Truth Social that the Houthis have “emerged again, probably at the behest of Iran… purposefully trying to drive up Oil Prices, probably prior to the US Elections” (Al Jazeera, Oct. 13) and told reporters the Houthis are “behaving very badly” (CBS News). On Oct. 14 at a rally in Kalispell, Montana, he said the war will “end very quickly” and that “the oil is going to come way down” (NBC Montana, Oct. 14). Earlier, at a rally in Alaska (Fox News, Oct. 14), he said more oil is leaving the Strait of Hormuz than before the war — DISPUTED: Kpler’s 7-day average to Oct. 12 was 7.6 million barrels a day vs. 17.1 pre-war (Kpler media briefing, Oct. 14).

This update rebuilds our Oct. 11 report and carries it through Oct. 15: Saudi Arabia (Riyadh, Dhahran, Dammam, Abha), the Strait of Hormuz and the U.S. blockade, Yemen and Bab al-Mandab, Iran, and oil. Related: Energy Under Fire (10.15.26).

the Houthi claims of strikes on an Aramco refinery in Riyadh and on the airport (Oct. 14); who fired on the tankers on Oct. 10–11; the IRGC’s mine claims for GFS Pride and NV Sunshine and its three-supertanker claim (NV Sunshine’s owner and Vietnam deny it); the extent of damage at Aramco’s Dhahran building (limited per the Energy Ministry, extensive per Reuters sources); whether the U.S. will join Saudi strikes (Trump: “We may”; no decision); the CNN “mother of all bombs” option; the coalition and Houthi casualty and strike counts (each side’s own figures); Trump’s Hormuz flow claim (contradicted by Kpler); and today’s oil settle. The Sunday Oct. 11 oil prices come from the Novo Options tape, not from an exchange settlement. Dammam is described only as having “come under attack.” The Oct. 6 Yemen clip is older footage included for Bab al-Mandab context.
