Editorial: Rio Dell Times supports Steve Hilton for Governor. Facts below are sourced.

About 3:24 • no narration • every source credited on screen • Saturday, October 17, 2026

The President first. On April 6, 2026, President Trump posted on Truth Social: “I have known and respected Steve Hilton, who is running for Governor of California, for many years. He is a truly fine man… Steve Hilton has my COMPLETE & TOTAL ENDORSEMENT. He will be a GREAT Governor and, importantly, WILL NEVER LET YOU DOWN!!!” (Truth Social post (mirror); CNN, Apr. 6). We did not find an outlet video of the President speaking about Hilton, so there is no Trump clip in the video.

Polls: Hilton trails. The FiftyPlusOne average on Oct. 17 shows Becerra 53.5%, Hilton 36.6% (FiftyPlusOne). Election day is Nov. 3, 2026.
Next event: Sunday, Oct. 18, 11 AM–1 PM, a free Hilton rally at Grand Century Mall, Little Saigon, 1111 Story Road, San Jose, as listed by the Santa Clara County Republican Party (SVGOP).
New in this cut: Hilton’s Oct. 16 post saying Becerra declined a UCLA agriculture-policy forum. That is Hilton’s claim, labeled as such; we found no outlet confirmation and no Becerra response (campaign post).

Republican Steve Hilton is on the November ballot for governor of California against Democrat Xavier Becerra, and he has spent a lot of this campaign on farms, ranches and small-town stages. So here is a happy, hay-scented (and slightly mooing) tour of Hilton in the Central Valley and beyond: a dairy farm where the cows get showers, ranchers on horseback at sunset, tractors at the World Ag Expo, almond blossoms, a grand-marshal turn at a Madera race, and the night he made the November ballot.

Editorial

The Rio Dell Times supports Steve Hilton for governor, and this video reflects that view: the title, the tone and the “happy cows” slogan are ours. The facts, dates and numbers on this page are sourced, and the clips are real, with credits on screen. Where we use stock footage of cows to make our point, it is labeled on screen and on this page as stock and is not from a Hilton event. We also say plainly above where he trails.

About the slogan and the stops

Not confirmed

the Oct. 16 UCLA agriculture-forum account (Hilton’s claim; no outlet confirmation or Becerra response found); the identity of the speaker in the Madera ranchers clip (the video does not name anyone); the farmer’s name in the Hilmar clip (not given); one phrase in the farmer’s answer is hard to hear (marked “unclear” in the transcript); where the “Horse power” photo was taken; the exact year-date of the Niman Ranch visit (the on-screen graphic gives only “April 29”; posted May 3, 2025); the Point Reyes land dispute, the Madera speedway “online controversy” and Hilton’s statements about school food and his tax plan are his or the outlets’ claims and were not independently checked. Social-media clips are from the campaign’s own verified X account; outlet clips come from the outlets’ own X posts or websites.

Caution: that Point Reyes ranchers are being “threatened by ridiculous bureaucracy” is Hilton’s description. We did not independently review the underlying land-lease dispute.

0:48Clip audio — Hilton campaignAnd that's what we're here to do today, is to learn about a story that first caught my eye in January about farmers and ranchers who've been here for so many years being threatened by ridiculous bureaucracy that makes no sense.
0:48On screenRanchers vs. bureaucracy
1:00Clip audio — Hilton campaignIt’s such a great example of something I say all the time. They just don’t trust people. And they assume that people will do the worst. And they make all these rules, assuming that everyone’s got bad intentions and can’t be trusted.

1:16Clip audio — Hilton campaignRight here in California, we grow the healthy food that we want these beautiful children and all your friends to be eating. No offense to other states, but they don't have what we have. And yet, in so many of our public schools, the food is just ultra-processed rubbish, I'm going to use a polite word, trucked in, often from out of state.

1:33Clip audio — Hilton campaignAnd the reason I wanted to show you this: my eldest son, when he was younger, absolutely obsessed with this stuff, with tractors and diggers and farm equipment. And honestly, I’m just thinking about if I could have brought him here 15 years ago—absolute heaven.

2:04Clip audio — Hilton campaign (his claim)Becerra has just dodged another debate. UCLA wanted to do a policy forum specifically on agriculture policy, but only if the two candidates did it together. We accepted immediately. By the way, this was on Zoom. He didn’t even have to leave his basement. He could have done it in his bed, where he seems to be spending most of his time these days. And he said no. He said he was booked up till the end of the year. [Hilton’s claim; the “[Becerra]” name is as heard in the audio.]

2:49Clip audio — CBS SacramentoI won't accept that the California Dream is something we talk about in the past tense. Wherever you want to go, I want to clear the barriers away.
